Theresa Marie (Roderick) Harding, 96, of Granite City, passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025. Theresa was born on September 11, 1929, in Granite City, IL, to Alphonse and Agnes Roderick. She was a proud member of Church Women United, the Granite City Elks Lodge, and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Altar Society. She loved spreading joy as a clown, creating amazing balloon art for kids at parades and for residents at the local nursing homes.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Agnes (Boyer), her beloved husband, Joseph Harding, and her siblings, Grace Roderick, Oliver (Theresa) Roderick, Sister Frances Gabriel, Margaret (George) Schiber, Cecilia (Stanley) Cruse, Milford (Laura) Roderick, Lawrence (Millie) Roderick, James (Virginia) Roderick, and her 3 sons-in-law: Tim Markel, Mark Eichenseer, and Mike Curran.
She is survived by her five children: Janice Harding, Joyce Curran, Jo Marie (Calvin) Adams, John Harding, and Jayne Eichenseer. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Sara (Jamie) Baker, Katie (Todd) Horn, Megan (Joshua) Weiss, Joseph (Christy) Markel, Emily (Alex) Parente, Kyle (Abby) Adams, Alex (Caitlin) Harding, Austin Harding, Paul (Kelli) Eichenseer, Ross (Jenni) Eichenseer, Brent (Andrea) Eichenseer, and Clay Eichenseer. Her legacy continues through her twenty great-grandchildren.
Theresa's warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In remembrance of her vibrant life, the family will celebrate a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City on April 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Father Alfred Tumwesigye as the celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Theresa’s name to the St. Elizabeth School Fund and/or Masses.
